Perhaps more than Nintendo, Ubisoft has committed to giving hardcore gamers what they want out of Wii. With the leap forward the enthralling No More Heroes 2 took, gamers can only hope Red Steel 2 makes similar strides with the assistance of the Wii Motion Plus peripheral at its side.

In the mid-nineties, alt-rockers, Bush bemoaned, "There's no sex in your violence". Someone get Mr. Gwen Steffani a copy of No More Heroes 2 immediately. So much for the idea of Wii as a 'kiddie' console...

With so many games in the puzzle genre simply aping each other, it is refreshing when you find one that takes a truly unique turn. The just released WiiWare title, Bittos+ may use the familiar Tetris-shaped blocks, but what the game does with them is like no puzzle game you have played before.

Nintendo’s Wii has a reputation for ignoring hardcore gamers, with too many titles skewing toward either the casual or younger audience. Looking at the cover to Cing and Town Factory’s Little King’s Story, you may assume this is yet another bland, childish Wii title with nothing to offer. You would be wrong, and missing out on one of the year's most pleasant surprises.

Golfing and Wii should go together like peanut butter and jelly. While they seem to have matched up decently in the past, the pairing of EA's fantastic Tiger Woods franchise and Nintendo's new MotionPlus adapter will leave you looking at all previous golf games as if they were Pong.

You can practically count the games that satisfy both hardcore and casual gamers on one hand. Nintendo's waggle-happy Wii controls brought in casual gamers like nothing before, but has not quite caught on with the hardcore gamers that look at it as a nice gimmick to waste an hour with before heading back to their Xbox or PlayStation. Nintendo seems unable, or unwilling, to shed that image of Wii as a casual gaming machine, but SEGA at least has gamers' backs. Their new first-person-shooter, The Conduit aims to cast a wide net to please Wii's mass audience as well as the hardcore gamers that feel left out in the cold thus far.
